About Immanuel  Davis

Immanuel Davis is a young Los Angeles based artist, whose work has been exhibited in group shows since 2011, including the Christopher Reeves Foundation.  He is currently represented by the prestigious fine art publishing house, Modern Multiples in Downtown, Los Angeles.  He has dedicated himself to a career in fine arts and as an advocate to be a voice in an underserved international community of special needs in helping bring more awareness to the public.

Immanuel has been managing his seizures since the tender age of 20 months old, as a survivor of two strokes due to Shaken Baby Syndrome.  Although he went through traumatic brain injury that left him paralyzed on his right side with only vision in one eye and daily seizures, he still managed to study fine art in college.

“I don’t want my seizures to stop my life”

- Immanuel Davis

Poignant to his work is his unique worldview, especially since has spent most his life traveling the world in many developing countries.  Some have described his work as a, "reflective perspective from an adaptive mind, whose ability is to transform and deconstruct the figure into his perception of perfection."

His latest body of work is concentrated on the human figure or the nude.  Aspiring to learn and experience working from live models, each piece is drawn in charcoal and represents his personal view. There is an innocence and freedom in his work, inadvertently resulting from an academic and traditional studio setting.

He has continued to find and develop his voice and style through images representative of a broader and seriously misunderstood community that is underserved worldwide.  Regardless of past labels from Brute Art-to-Folk or Craft Arts, Davis continues to make work he feels will share with others, things many have no voice to speak, are overlooked, ostracized, and sadly ignored throughout the world.  As with all other young adults with epilepsy,  traumatic brain injury and paralysis they are survivors who have overcome all odds and have exceeded beyond expectations.  Immanuel has experienced it all, from learning how to eat, walk and talk again, to now being in pursuit of a career in the arts.  He has discovered that he has a voice he can speak through his work, how he views life, through a unique point of view that only he could express.
